The band welcomes new students that are interested and serious about learning the pipes or drums.

The band has a formal training program for Pipers which is run by Maureen Stein with a staff of experienced pipers including Donal Morrissey Sr., Eric Stein, Mike Faughnan, Pat O'Hara, Mike Mahoney and Kevin McSwiggan. The training program for drummers is run by Andy Hamilton and includes some of the areas finest Pipe Band drummers including Adrian Mordaunt, John Paul Kavanaugh, Vivian Stapleton, Brian Pantekoek and Bob Mulligan.

When new piping students arrive they are grouped together based upon their skill level. Generally a new student starts at the beginners group and is taught the basics by Donal Morrissey Sr and John Keane. Once a student becomes proficient in the scales and grace notes they are promoted to the intermediate level.  This level furthers the students knowledge by teaching doublings and other execution.  At this level student will begin to learn some basic tunes such as Marches.  When the student becomes successful at this level they are moved to the final stage where they are taught by Band Members.  Here the student is expected continually improve their playing.  The student also begins to expand their repertoire by learning tunes such as Reels, Jigs and Strathspeys and they are groomed to enter one of the 4 competition bands.

The drum corps follows a similar path. New students start out as beginners and are taught by the basic rudiments by John Paul Kavanaugh or Andy Hamilton.  When they become proficient at rudiments they receive lessons from Adrian Mordaunt from Dublin Ireland who prepares the student for one of the competition bands.
